E.S. Brown Elementary School

Recommended Summer Reading for 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Reading is a key to success in school for students of all ages.  Children who
are good readers find it easier to do well in other subjects, because so much
of learning depends on the ability to read.  From history to science to
geography to math word problems, reading is an important part of learning in
every school subject.

Outside of school, reading can open doors to a world of pleasure and
enjoyment.  Children who enjoy reading can find books that will help them
travel through time and space.  Through books, you can have all sorts of
adventures – you can experience an earthquake, run for president, hang out
with fairy folk and dolphins, travel to ancient Egypt, run the Iditarod, and
much more.

The teachers at the E.S. Brown Elementary School have chosen
books for your child’s summer reading pleasure.  All students were given their appropriate list and teacher letter the last week of school.  Students in Grade 5 were also given a copy of their book.

Please refer to the correct links below for your child.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to either me or your child's teacher .

Thank you, and happy reading!
